Indonesian Data Journalism Network (IDJN) was established in February 2019 to bridge the knowledge gap in data journalism among Indonesian journalists. IDJN is a non-profit organisation and community dedicated to promoting and improving data journalism learning.
Activities include regular meetups focused on data journalism, such as discussions of specific reports and training on new tools. The organisation also conducts data journalism training, undertakes research, and collaborates on data-driven reporting.
IDJN pioneered the Data Journalism Hackathon in Indonesia, an initiative that fosters collaboration among journalists, designers, and programmers to produce data journalism reports. IDJN held the Data Journalism Hackathon five times from 2020 to 2026. More than 300 people have participated in this hackathon, producing a range of data-driven reports.
